With dealerships across the country and a strong reputation for quality and service, we are looking for a skilled Automotive Electrician to join our Timaru team.

We're offering a guaranteed 45 hours per week at $40-$48 per hour depending on your experience, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus and up to $5,000 to help with relocation costs. On top of that you'll get a tax-free tool allowance of $1.50 per hour, a tax-free $25 meal allowance on days over 10 hours worked, and $50 per day when you're on call. The overtime rate of time and a half will also kick in after 9 hours worked a day.

About the Role

As an Automotive Electrician, you’ll play a key role in keeping our customers’ trucks and commercial vehicles running safely and efficiently. Working in our well-equipped Timaru workshop, you’ll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and complete servicing across a range of heavy diesel vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults across light commercial and heavy diesel vehicles

• Carry out wiring repairs, accessory installations, and electrical upgrades

• Utilise manufacturer diagnostic software and equipment

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems

• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

• Complete job documentation and maintain accurate service records

• Communicate with Service Advisors and customers regarding repairs

• Maintain a safe, clean and efficient workshop environment

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Automotive Electrician, or equivalent trade qualification

• Minimum 3 years' experience working with commercial vehicles, diesel engines, trucks, or heavy equipment

• Strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding capability

• Sound mechanical knowledge and repair experience

• High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Commitment to safety and workshop best practices
